To the term of ecclesiastical celibacy and sexual abuse committed by members of The Church
I listened to a few days ago, a simple comment on the validity priest, which he attributed as religious professing celibacy, as a sacrificial offering to the Lord, that somehow represented the surrender of part of human nature, on a voluntary option of offering to a sacramental life and hopefully with some degree of holiness.
I found his approach extremely consistent, then started to recognize that sexuality, in its very nature is an essential part of the human being also in the same vein, if a natural thing, give it represents an option in your choice of no less priestly and can be understood as an offering to their faith in Jesus Christ and, finally, that the option is absolutely free and voluntary and understood as part of the sacramental order of those who, in a completely free event, enter the clerical order. Such a comment, I think, is extendable to both genders, both of priests and nuns.
Mariano Puga, once dedicated priest of La Victoria (population symbol of the city of Santiago, stand as the first "popular land seizures" that is more than 40 years in Chile), today, a missionary in the archipelago of Chiloe, stated a few days ago that given the occurrence of the events of sexual abuse by some members of the church, could be the basis for further discussion to the issue of clerical celibacy.
The issue of celibacy, which some time ago has been released into the air repeatedly by priests and laity, as a response to the issue of sexual abuse committed by members of the church in Chile and the world continues to draw attention because in more than a forum, has broached that celibacy is anti nature, which is the solution to some of the issues related to sexual abuse within seminaries and Catholic colleges and because ultimately, it is no minor issue within priests progressive groups of the Catholic Church worldwide.
First of all, if abstinence is anti-nature or not is a condition of human nature itself, I note that I do not share that assessment, for doing so, I believe, is to reduce human nature to a condition similar to that of other creatures in the animal kingdom: I say this from my status as ordinary human being, with family, a daughter and understand that sexuality is inherent in human nature, but with the sign of differentiation that is selective, unlike of animals, humans do not mate them as an instinctive act, we are selective, we are guided by our senses and our feelings and just as the priests choose celibacy, some lay people opt for monogamy. This consideration is not pejorative for those who do not believe in marriage, monogamy or relationships between persons of the same sex is part of free will that we all humans and that differentiates us from other animal species that cohabit this planet .
In the same vein, do not recognize that there are on this planet so many religions, which exceed a billion Catholics around the world, where celibacy, the option for holiness, dedication to one God or many gods, is no more or less than the expression of free will that humans enjoy. But it is almost inconceivable that members of the church itself questioned, declare that the purpose of ecclesiastical celibacy, is a key to help close the sexual abuse by members of the curia, if most connotation of sexual crimes committed by religious and religious, not sexual acts themselves point to the sexual nature of human beings, rather point to sexual deviancy against children or helpless people, who trusted their pastors and religious, were abused and manipulated on purpose and sometimes repeatedly.
Maciel in Spain, the United States Bishops, in Chile the case of Bishop Cox, of the Cure Karadima, the unclear accusations, tracing the air of Santiago against the former Superior of the Ursulines, do not correspond to actions taken on the basis of sexual nature which belongs to all of us and also the priests and religious are not talking about faults to celibacy, that a priest or nun is caught womanizing or the pants, so to speak in a more colloquial we are talking about deviant acts, inappropriate sexual acts, offenses in short, against children, unprotected, abused without consent, but says otherwise Cardinal Medina, we are talking about priests and nuns depraved homosexuals, sadists, which covered in their endowments, have slipped their worst instincts against completely innocent beings.
Then, immediately comes to mind is the question of ecclesiastical celibacy in order, a path to the church to relieve the weight given the constant accusations of sexual abuse by some of its members? I mean, these depraved priests and nuns, which appear in newspapers around the world, to celibacy, they will change their sexual behavior and stop abusing children and vulnerable young people? If we believe that this is a road, means that no one understood anything of this problem and seek solutions that do not attack the source of the problem and not the mentioned celibacy.
The problem gentlemen is the existence or not of ecclesiastical celibacy, if it changes or not, I understand sometimes small, gives exactly the same. If a priest is married and choose to start a family and wants to continue his priestly order, I see a bigger difference than it is today, with those committed lay people who minister sacraments and assist at Mass, I understand, is to move only step further. The problem is, gentlemen, that the church is full of people, clerical usufruct of his office, hidden in her sexual deviations and its worst and basest instincts. I do not think if the priest would have the option Karadima married, had changed his homosexuality. So where should be the focus, not celibacy or sexual abstinence, which is part of the clerical exercise, the focus should be on the selection of those entering seminaries and convents, must be in permanent control of the ecclesiastical authorities on the moral conduct of its members and in a special manner in which the church from Rome to Tortel chapel should be open to listen and investigate every time you get an indictment, however simple it may be, against some of its members and not let time finish entombing the charges and release those responsible .-
