How to Blog and Make Money Before you leave a job

Recently I came across many blogs whose authors have stopped their full-time jobs to pursue their dream of blogging for money. I think these bloggers are gutsy, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and taking a huge risk. Even if you quit a job to blog full-time income is an ideal career move, there are some basics to keep in mind before taking the plunge.

1. Choose a topic that makes money

You can go different routes when choosing a blogging topic. The most popular is the blog of a passion of yours. However, this does not always bring in the money. Another option is to blog about topics that people are always looking for. Do the research of keywords and blogs based on questions surrounding those keywords. It is best to choose topics of the blog to make money than wasting time on issues that have low rates of research.

2. Serious Money is in traffic

No blog is useful if there is traffic directed to it. You can not monetize a blog with little traffic. Traffic building takes time and how long it takes is totally based on how hard you are willing to work. Now a days you can easily reach all visitors who use social networking sites like Stumbleupon, MyBlogLog and Blog Catalog. The more targeted you can make your traffic, the better. Article marketing can also lead to long-term traffic and help build branding.

3. Choose your method of monetization

There are several ways to monetize your blog by PPC (pay-per-click) ads to sell advertising space. One of my favorite ways to make money blogging is through affiliate sales. That's why the selection of topics of the blog is just crucial. You can typically find affiliate programs related to the topics of the blog. I find affiliate sales are more profitable than PPC ads, however, you can test and see which method works for you.

4. Repeat the process

After finding a method that works, repeat the procedure! Be the first dollar online is a great feeling, but the key is to grow that dollar in ten, then 50, and soon hundreds a day. After discovering a method that works, do the same thing over and over again. Do not limit yourself to one method - always experiment. You never know when another opportunity will strike gold.
