How to Achieve New Year's resolutions in 2011?

There are very little, just a few hours, so that 2010 is over and step into 2011. With some religious discipline, every start of the year arising from the hackneyed quasi tiresome New Year's resolutions. The truth is that on one hand squeak a bit but otherwise we know that we are a type of animal that uses pauses to reflect which , by the way, is fine. Indeed, the pauses, the round numbers, the key date, are mental constructs. That is, if one intends to improve some aspect of your life (quit smoking, lose weight, learn Russian ...) should give the same to do so in the New Year than at any other time of year. However, it is not. There is a tendency to take a round number, a key date, this is one of those pauses to which I referred earlier. And, for lack of a better system, we could say that for better than nothing. On the other hand, it is a great classic that New Year's resolutions fade and blur at the latest, in the second week of January. Some brave hold up to 90% in February but the unfortunate withdraws with ease.

But why is this so? Is it so soft that we can not keep our word or ourselves? Is there any way to change this? Can you get this year is the year in pushing forward some of my projects? The answer is emphatically yes. To do just that with a minimum guarantee of seriousness and should make some small adjustments. Among those who paid the January 1st six months of gyms and just going on day 2 and that other (one in 20 or so) to mortgage their lives to achieve their goals, there is a middle ground that is of interest. There have been some interesting discoveries in this field which I will talk to you about. First, the self-help industry has been saying for years that regularly display a given state (no smoking, thin or speaking Russian) is sufficient. However, this is not true. In the best cases it is simply ineffective. It seems that people who fantasize too much about how wonderful life could be unprepared for the setbacks that the way you might suppose, or, put another way, are designed to evade so they can feel good to think that way but not seem to want to make the effort to initiate the transformation.

With everything and with that, if there are certain strategies that seem to help enough with the New Year's resolutions in particular and the achievement of overall objectives. I met a wise man named Jim Rhon saying that if you are ill you should start a health plan, if you are poor, wealth plan, if you are overweight, a weight loss plan if you're uneducated, a plan for culture and so on. It's as simple as telling. The first thing you need then is a plan. As detailed as possible. A plan on paper at least lead you to your goal. There is a surefire way to lose 50 kilos in one year, for example, it is to lose a kilo a week. Another aspect that has proven effective is to publicize your purposes. Although keep in secret alleviates the feeling of failure if not achieved, it is also true that difficult to achieve. We are a type of animal that tends to be more faithful to their opinions when they have been made public. Another useful strategy is to regularly remind the advantages and benefits that we would if we achieve our purpose. I'm talking about developing a list of benefits of goal achieved, carry in your wallet or purse and read between 3 and 5 times a day.

Our thoughts, and with them our purposes, are ephemeral. If not anchored, they evaporate. The form of anchor is forced to remember. For example, do you know why the society was much more religious generations ago? Just because the parishioners were forced to pray (ie anchor) several times a day. Muslims pray five times a day. As they make their beliefs are anchored each day. If we play the concept for us, that is, if we pray several times a day the benefits of achieving the purpose, will succeed much more easily. Another strategy is rewarded with milestones. One goal of a certain size that involves a lot of time anyone can demoralize much you repeat it several times a day. You must enable some kind of goals to stop flying in and rewarded for the steps taken but has not been achieved at all. Finally, research carried out by different psychologists from different universities was shown to carry a little diary of how the plan evolves exponentially increases your chances of success. You can be a diary written on paper or on your computer. Another friend introducing you finish you can help this year missing the fact achieve your goals.

It is the Zeigarnik effect. It turns out that a young Russian graduate student in psychology found that the waiters were able to retain orders his head several tables of customers if their account had not been charged and, on the contrary, immediately forgot commanded them seconds after they were collected. That fact led him to postulate the existence of psychic tension that remains dormant until the task is finished. This motor acts psychic tension, it pushes the completion of the task. As one of four recognized procrastinate, that is, deliberately postpone their tasks knowing we can use the Zeigarnik effect as follows. Stick to start the task. Spend a few minutes a day. If you do, the Zeigarnik effect does the rest for you. You know, if you want 2011 to be the year you reach your goals, develop a plan, tell your friends constantly remind the advantages of doing, reward the small accomplishments, keeps a journal and at least, begin to make the Zeigarnik effect do the rest.
